AEQ and AoIP with Dante

AoIPDante
Based on industry standards, Audinate created Dante, an uncompressed, multi-channel digital media networking technology, with near-zero latency and synchronization.
Dante does away with heavy, expensive analog or multicore cabling, replacing it with low-cost, easily-available CAT5e, CAT6, or fiber optic cable for a simple, lightweight, and economical solution. Dante integrates media and control for your entire system over a single, standard IP network- Dante is Audio over IP (AoIP) made easy. Click here and here to see how!

Dante systems can easily scale from a simple pairing of a console to a computer, to large capacity networks running thousands of audio channels. Because Dante uses logical routes instead of physical point-to-point connections, the network can be expanded and reconfigured at any time with just a few mouse clicks. The system is able to auto detect all DANTE-enabled equipment that can provide audio within the network. This can include desks, links, processors and codecs as the use of a NETBOX  allows non-digital audio to become part of the integrated audio over IP network."Dante Virtual Soundcard" allows your computer to become part of the IP network as a DANTE capable device, while "Dante Controller" allows the user to choose the desired channel to stream or receive.

Operation of the AEQ AoIP system (using DANTE).

When a Dante-enabled device is connected to an IP/Ethernet network, it will configure its IP address. Within seconds, Dante Controller will automatically discover and display the device, allowing you to configure the channels and audio routes. The device will advertise information about itself including device name, audio channel numbers and labels, sample rates and bit depths. This allows the software to determine compatibility between the Dante devices on the network. From there, simply point and click the crossover point on the matrix (see image below) to send your audio to the device of your choice- anywhere on the network!
