The grants fall into three major categories

Development and Operations: these grants aim to maintain, expand and/or strengthen the operations and broadcast capabilities of Australian community broadcasting stations through core support, support for development projects and support for necessary infrastructure.

Development and Operations means equipment. This year the CBF has requested business development plans and infrastructure plans to assist their technical advisors in making informed decisions. If you are searching for areas to fund, Wireless Components is here to help, offering choice with value on broadcast equiment from microphone to transmitter and outside broadcast. Multiple quotes help to support your application and strengthen your chances for success. Contact us so we can assist with a number of options to support your preferred pathway!

ADDITIONAL FUNDING IS AVAILABLE FOR YOUR STL REALLOCATION. If you have received a letter from the ACMA relating to your 850MHz link, this is for you.

Content: these grants aim to support the development, production and distribution of original content via Australian community radio and/or television broadcasters and associated platforms.

This year the CBF are particularly looking to support projects that increase community participation and diversity in community broadcasting and/or support high quality and creative content production.

Emergency: Funds are available to assist stations to replace damaged or destroyed essential equipment and related immediate expenses in order to restore basic transmission following an unforeseen event such as flood, bushfire, lightning or accidental damage (but not operator failure). Grants will be approved outside the normal grant rounds - you will receive advice about the success of your application within approximately two weeks, instead of the usual 10 weeks.

Specialist Radio Programming: This funding support is designed to encourage stations to carry specialist radio programming and assists with the maintenance and development of specialist programming content in community broadcasting to meet the needs of particular communities:
- RPH programs to serve people with a print disability
- Ethnic programs to serve a defined local ethnic community
- Indigenous programs

The CBF have made full webinars to outline the grants, please review by clicking here and here. Additionally, the FAQ page is a great resource.

With the funding model of the CBF moving towards long term planning and larger scale projects, there has never been a better time to start talking with us to discuss opportunities for development at your station. We can assist with advice, education and pricing for your short, medium and long term planning. Looking to crowd source your question? visit the Technorama Facebook Q&A

We look forward to working with you soon
